I've been having a "wicked" time...

Hello my pretties! :)

Here's hoping you are all having a great weekend! :) I've been so exicted for Halloween...been making all kinds of creatures. Even my hubby has gotten in on the act! He drew me a sketch and I can't WAIT to make it!

For now, though, I have a bunch of witch items all finished up and ready to go to new homes. Can you tell I'm reading "Wicked?" LOL

They are already up on ebay and etsy with ooodles of pictures...feel free to fly on over to check them out! I had a great time coming up with the descriptions...especially on the sisters...so I hope you'll at least go for the read and a good chuckle. ;)

Santa's Cookie Break

It's tough delivering all those packages in one night! Santa takes a much needed cookie break before getting started again. He's munching down over on ebay. I've been having fun with the metallics and glitters lately...good season to be playing with them! His beard has a tint of glitter and the green is shimmery, but subtle.

So you saw the tree I did for Lil, but I'm having such a hard time with Madeline's Wizard of Oz tree! It's a white tree, with a white feather boa and marabou boa...that much looked good. Then I added red balls with blue gingham ribbon and now it looks awful. :( Definitely not stuffed! So far I've thought of using yellow ribbon for the yellow brick road. Something emerald-y maybe? What do you think?

In time for Halloween...

I wanted to share the last few items I can list that will be able to arrive before Halloween before Awesome Guy gets home. This season is going so fast! I am SO not done making Halloween goodies! I'm actually REALLY excited about my next one!

On ebay, I have a woodburned painting that has a rustic and vintage feel. I love the way the wood soaks the paint up...it's almost like I have to scrub it in.

A little while back, I made this tin for Dani of Ambitions Designs. She's been so sweet and helpful to me, I wanted to thank her. If you haven't visited her blog yet, you are in for a treat! It's so good that I actually spent an evening and started reading at the very beginning!

I enjoyed making the tin so much that I made some to hold Halloween treats...they are on etsy. I wanted to make them look like they had been sitting in some haunted house somewhere. :0

Oh! And the girls' picked out their costumes...we'll have a Dorothy and a girly Pirate Captain! Madeline is practicing saying "Trick or Treat, " but it sounds more like "tweet tweet!

I had so much fun painting this one up! Thank you for all the great comments on the sketches! I always enjoy it when bloggers show the progression of a painting, so I did one myself. Halloween ACEOs

Good Morning All!

Thank you for all the Kindred Spirit love! :) It truly is an amazing community we have here!

We went camping over the weekend and went on a fairy hunt! You won't believe what we found!

For now though, Madeline wants to go down for her nap. I do have time to show you the ACEOs I put up on ebay. I made 4 others, but they are for a swap and I can't show them just yet. This was my first time making ATCs. It was fun to see how small I could do a face! Boy, did I get on a roll!
I just treated them like mini paintings. Lillian had me hold them up like cards and she would pick the one that I would paint that day. It was a great game, and she'd rush home to see it finished.

I just love that little girl! I hate to take her to school, but can't help but smile watching her run off to get in line. She's so brave and it makes me realize that she's her own little person and is seeing the world through her own little set of eyes. Now if she would just remember it when I ask her how her day was!

My Angel of Good Intentions

Took a break from the couch yesterday. Awesome Guy was home and was vegging on the cushions! I've had this painting drawn up for a while and was happy to get to it. Lil draws hearts over people's heads to show she loves them. I thought it looked like a halo, a bent halo. How perfect is that? We are not impervious to making mistakes, but there are so many "angels" here on earth. Yeah, none of us are perfect, so our halos are a little bent, but we do things with a good heart and that is what's important. Something helpful to remember when you find moldy grapes in your daughter's bedroom! lol

Works in Progress

Sorry for the flash thingies...I took this at night and I'm just not that good with the camera when Madeline is trying to climb on the table to play with the "dolls!" I also drew a girl singing while I watched Sarah Brightman on PBS. I love her and Celtic Woman...we saw them in concert. Such beautiful voices and gowns! The "Music Man" was REALLY good! Awesome Guy is such a sweetheart to sit through musicals with me...you know...he prefers the "shoot 'em up" action adventures. He's making me an herb garden with a grow light for the kitchen...I'm so excited! I just wanted to pop in and say hello! Have a great weekend girls!

A Pink Mermaid!

Once upon a time there was a pink mermaid,
Who lived in a pink sea.
She loved to swim amongst the fish,
And sip on Mermaid tea.

I painted this on Saturday for one of Lillian's friends. Her name is Makayla, she is a swimmer, and loves ANYTHING pink. She actually collects all the pink crayons in the class and puts them in her crayon box. When I taught art, no matter what she did, it was all in pink. So I thought this little girl with her blonde hair and blue eyes NEEDED a pink mermaid! Happy Birthday honey!

Look what I Bought!!

Isn't she just SO sweet?! When I saw her, I knew I HAD to have her! I love the not completely mended heart and the message, but the best part is she looks even better in person! The amazing artist behind this is Mystele. Like me, she just started painting this year and already she is everywhere! Her work is so charming and uplifting...she is a true gem! How I Spent My Summer Vacation- Part One

Hey Girls! Madeline Mae here posting while Mom is over there with her tongue stuck out- she's concentrating on painting some 3D girls! I thought you might want to see some pictures from our vacation to California! I was pretty good for being such a little baby and traveling so long in the car, if I do say so myself. Our first stop was Big Bear Lake...isn't it pretty? There is so much to do there too! Fishing, skiing, antiquing, and more! We stayed in a cabin there for 3 days! I especially liked rolling the billard balls under the couches and making the grown ups get them. I played a lot with my Grandma & Grandpa Shim too!
Sissy had a great time throwing shoes for horses? I don't get it. She loved it though!
Me? I prefer Ping Pong! Daddy and Shim played for a long time...Daddy picked up A LOT of balls. The paddles are so yummy! Mommy thought it was gross and wiped it down for me!

This is the alpine slide...you get to ride a chair lift up to the top and then race down to the bottom. Sissy was scared at first, but once she figured out the brakes, she had a blast.
I may be an adventurer, but they said I was too little to go down the slide...I watched them very closely. By the way, I'm shoe fanatic...don't you just love these?! They are my favorite!
Mommy made some things while I had some quality time with Grandma and Grandpa Shim. This is a fairy house so that the fairies can go on vacation too! We left it at the cabin.

She painted this outside on the porch... Sissy and Grandma painted too! The long red hair is because of Lillian and the princess has my blue eyes. After all, we are Mommy's princesses! :) Mommy said she is on ebay right now.

There is Always Time for Tea

Sure, Alice was very busy chasing that cute little rabbit. She knew she had to find her way home soon too. As preoccupied as she was, Alice still managed to find the time to sit down with the Mad Hatter and enjoy a cup a tea. Good for you Alice! May we all learn a lesson from you!

Alice wants you to know that no matter how late you are for your very important date, there is always time for tea. There is always time to stop and smell the roses, whether they be white or red! She is on ebay right now.

While the roses here in the desert are few and far between, your blogs, my dear friends, are roses to me. The weather is heating up and I am going into hibernation mode, but I so enjoy the words and photos you all share. As busy as I am, I simply don't fill guilty about that. :) Thank you!

I have also taken Alice's advice, as well as the advice from a wonderful blogger, Cheryl from Confections by having afternoon tea with my daughter everyday after school. Like Cheryl, I too experience that crazy hour after school and have found that having this time with her really helps! I have tons of china that I use in my business, so she gets her pick everyday. Sometimes I bake one thing...usually a half hour before I go pick her up and combine it with some cut fruit. I'm a tea fanatic, so I have a nice selection of tea for her to choose from. This has been a big hit! So big in fact, that she told her friends at school and now a couple of times a week, one of the neighborhood girls join us too! "The cousins" have even been over for tea!

I think it's funny how even though I started taking Lillian to tea at 18 months, I never thought of having it at home. Thank you Cheryl!



Here is Lillian during one of our teas. I swear she didn't put on the dress for tea or the photo...she is going through a very feminine stage right now and dresses up for school like this. I had to stop her from going to school in her Christmas dresses! The apron, though, she did put on for tea. It belonged to my grandmother- Lillian is named after her. She was a registered nurse in the 20's and 30's. She wore the cap and the navy cape and everything! She would be so happy to see Lillian now. No matter what, she was always a lady and dressed like it too. :)

May I Introduce Madame Bunny?

Okay, who else has wondered who decorates all those beautiful Easter eggs?

Well, for those of you who don't know, please allow me to introduce the Easter Bunny's better half, Madame Bunny!

While making my Bee Girl, Lillian suggested I make a Bunny one too. I wanted to show her tail, mainly because I'm so in love with my stash of gliiter...it's so soft and fine. A side pose and a carrot inspired dress, and she turned into quite the Victorian Lady, don't you think? She seems shy, and I began to think more about Madame Bunny and the life she lives.

The text reads:

"No one speaks much of Madame Bunny.

She lives in the shadows of her husband's limelight.

She minds this not and loves him truly.

She is the artist behind the eggs he scatters.

He thanks his beloved by leaving her the very first three eggs of Easter."

Madame Bunny is so proud of her husband and his thoughtful gift that she posed for a portrait to give as a gift to him. In the wee small hours of the morning, when he stops to take a rest, he pulls the portrait from his pocket to see what joy is waiting for him once he gets home.
